SAVHS Daily Announcements 11.17.2017

BIRTHDAYS:  Happy Birthday to Teresa Perrin, Dev Bhakta, and Roselynn Moore!  Birthday greetings to Gabriela Evans and Matthew Jolley, who celebrate their birthdays over the weekend!

NEW:  If you are interested in a paid position working the scoring table at lower level home basketball games this winter, please pick up an application and schedule in the high school office.

NEW:  We are now taking applications for SUPERFANS! If you are interested in supporting the winter teams in a positive manner, pick up an application in the office!

NEW:  If anyone has found a purple motorcycle pin, please return it to the high school office.

There is no school on Thursday, November 23 or Friday, November 24 for Thanksgiving.

Be Our Guest at the performances of Beauty and the Beast! Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm, Sunday at 2:00 pm!  Students are $5, Adults are $10!  You can also pre-order your DVD copy of Beauty and the Beast with the attached order form.  The cast will also be hosting a Family Fun Event prior to the matinee on Sunday from 12:30-1:30 pm and include a “tour of the Castle”, Belle’s Beautiful Nail Design Studio, Beasts temporary Tattoos, Cogsworth’s Coloring, and Chip’s Cherry Tea Party!  Admission for the family fun event is $5 for children and does not include a ticket to the show.

Looking for a job this winter?  Apply to become a skating rink supervisor!  Applications are due by November 17 and are available at the City Hall Front Desk or online at

Attention anyone not doing a winter sport:  The Winter Running Club will be meeting on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays starting this week.  Runners will meet up by the gym locker rooms at 3:00 - be there and dress warm!

Mathletes: there are two weeks until our next meet at Mound High School.  Our team is in first place, and we'd like to keep it up!  Remember that practices are before and after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Everyone should be attending and gearing up for Meet 2.  And don't forget, practices include healthy snacks and loads of fun. Hope to see you all soon.

As cold and flu season is upon us, please remember that students MUST be seen by the nurse if they are going home sick.  Students will not be allowed to get passes from the office or attendance to be picked up and sent home sick.

There is a high school parent meeting scheduled for Monday, November 20 at 6:30 pm in the Media Center.  Mr. Terry will provide a summary of the school year to date and provide important information about upcoming events.

Juniors, if your family has financial need and you have a GPA of 3.6 or higher, consider applying for the LEDA (Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America) Scholarship.  Deadline to apply is Dec. 12.
